I read with utter horror on NME.com this morning that Foxton and Buckler are touring under the name of "The Jam" this spring. And it gets worse-they're recording new material. Have a quick listen to "London Traffic" off the "Modern World" album and consider....Weller needs to get down his lawyers, and fast, before this gets out of hand! |

Rob - have you ever heard 'Freak', Bruce Foxton's first solo single after The Jam split - it's got to be one of the worst songs of all time!
I agree about London Traffic too:
London traffic (state of confusion)
London traffic (blocking the streets)
London traffic (going nowhere)
London traffic (polluting the air)
Very deep! |

I know. And what about "News of the World", possibly the worst ever Jam 45 despite "Bitterest Pill" and "A Town Called Malice". Weller isn't totally free of embarrasing career lows and The Jam did record a few stinkers, but one thing they maintained was dignity and credibility for not cashing in, as did The Clash. Hopefully that pair won't get a recording contract but if they do it'll be like an audible version of rotten.com!!
"Read about the things that happen, around the World,
Don't believe in everything you see or hear"
Not exactly "In The Crowd" or "Eton Rifles" is it!!
Oh, well... |
