| Now take a look at the very grass on which you are standing, this rectangular area at the foot of the band stand was the scene of the very first Tamworth Rock Festival. On Easter Monday, 1979 you could see Ice – whose album “Saga of the Ice King” was on sale in local shops, Brewster, the country and western band – The Ramblin’ Band, Flash Harry and Asylum. Admission was free and the fun kicked off at 12 noon. At the time Dave Armour suggested people bring something to sit on in case the grass was damp and light refreshments would be available. |
