Got a Question?
If you're unsure about any aspect of TamworthBands.com you may find the answer to your questions here. If not, email info@tamworthbands.com with your query.
Q: Where's the finished history of the bands?
A: As mentioned throughout the site, the intention of this site is to gather the information from band members themselves to help to build the history of Tamworth bands. The history is being completed year on year, the finished site, detailing the full history between 1960 and 1990, will be completed sometime in 2008.
Q: What will my bands' page look like?
A: To get an idea of how a Band Page will look, visit the page for The Fretz, a new wave/mod band from 1979/80. The page layout and design may change over time, but this is how the finished page will look. (Thanks to Mark Mortimer for the excellent submission).
Q: What if I can't fill in every field in the form?
A: Don't worry. The only fields which are mandatory are the Band Name and your contact details i.e. First Name, Last Name and Email Address. Just complete the rest of the form as much as possible.
Q: What do I get out of it?
A: You as a band member or ex-band member get to recall what was hopefully an exciting time for yourself and Tamworth. You get to find out what old friends are doing now. You get the chance to put the record straight by correcting historical errors, etc, etc, etc.
Q: When will site be finished?
A: It's difficult to give a precise date as it all depends how successful this web site is in gathering the information. But the completion date pencilled in at the moment is sometime in 2008.
Q: Will you be including audio and video files on the site?
A: Yes. There are a selection of audio files in the Juke Box. If you have any audio files, please send them, individually, to tamworthbands@lycos.com. Alternatively, a postal address can be supplied and delivery and collection arranged. We will be adding video clips in the near future. See Copyright.
Q: What about images?
A: If you have any band photographs or images that relate to a particular band (e.g. demo artwork, posters, flyers) that you would like to be included within your band's entry then please send in .jpg or .gif format to: info@tamworthbands.com Alternatively, a postal address can be supplied and delivery and collection arranged. See Copyright.
Q: What do you get out of it, surely you must be making money out of this?
A: I wish! No, I'm doing this purely for some strange sadistic sort of pleasure. Spending three years of my life collating historical data about bands, many of which no one has heard of, isn't exactly going to make anyone rich. The whole project is purely out of love for the Tamworth music scene - how very, very sad!
Q: Who owns the copyright of images and audio/video files used on the site?
A: Copyright of all images and audio/video files submitted for inclusion on TamworthBands.com remains with the supplier. However, by submitting images and audio/video files you agree for them to be used throughout the site and in any promotional materials related to the site. TamworthBands.com assume that all items submitted are copyright of the supplier and will not enter into any discussion with third parties as to claims of alternate copyright.
Basically if you send me something, I'll use it on the site believing it to be your copyright. If someone disputes this, sort it out between yourselves, I want nothing to do with it.
Q: My band changed personnel every other week - what do I do?
A: When submitting your band details, submit the original line up of the band. You will then see on the form another section (Section 1a) for Band Variations. Complete this for further line ups. If your band personnel changed in its entirety but you retained the same name, complete a brand new submission and call the band Version No. 2, Version No. 3 etc. Contact info@tamworthbands.com if you're unsure.
Q: Who is Edward ian Armchair?
A: See www.eddiearmchair.com for everything to do with Mr. Armchair.
Q: Is the history of Tamworth bands be objective?
A: Yes, without a doubt. The complete history of the Tamworth Music Scene which makes up the main part of the site is written from a variety of sources e.g. band submissions from this site, Tamworth Herald Musicbox previews and reviews, conversations with past band members and personal memories. All content will be written as objectively as is possible.
Q: Who, Why and When?
So, just who is Edward ian Armchair and why would anyone want to spend a great deal of their precious free time compiling the complete history of bands in a tiny little town like Tamworth?
A: Who?
Edward ian Armchair has been a member of various Tamworth bands - from Tamworth's first punk band The Reliants in 1977, via various incarnations of The DHSS, en route he was a Performance Poet, to his final musical act, The Foundation in 1990. He was an enthusiastic supporter of all areas of the arts in Tamworth from 1975 onwards and was a significant influence on the development of the Tamworth music scene from it's beginnings in the mid to late 70s through its hey day of the mid to late 80s.
A: Why?
Why not? New, young bands often think that they are doing something for the first time, that it's never been done before - there is nothing wrong with this, it makes the whole thing more exciting. But sometimes, it's interesting to find out for example that in the dim and distant past, some ageing rockers also did rather risqué things on a Tamworth stage. It's also interesting to discover the origins of such institutions as the Tamworth Rock Festival or Musicbox or for example the first local band to make a recording or play at the Arts Centre.
A: When?
When will the web site be complete? I hear you ask. Because of the scale of the task involved it's difficult to say just how long it will take to collate all of the information related to the history of Tamworth bands. However, the planned cmpletion date is sometime in 2008.
So, if you were part of the Tamworth Music Scene between 1960 and 1990 please add your band details or simply email: info@tamworthbands.com
Many Thanks

Edward ian Armchair
