Fazeley dance bid to beat Assembly Rooms “jinx”
Fazeley dance bid to beat Assembly Rooms “jinx”Unable to beat the Assembly Rooms “jinx”, a Tamworth entertainments agency has switched its venue for weekly beat dances to Fazeley parish hall.

On Friday more than 120 teenagers – some of them are pictured – were at the first of the Fazeley dances, where there is a “soft drinks and no trouble” rule.

“We hope in a few weeks to begin running the dances on a club scene where members have to sign themselves and their guests in.” said Mr. Richard Hall, a partner in Clubland Entertainment Agency, which this week moved into new offices at 58A Church Street, Tamworth.

“So far we have been pleased with the response we had on Friday, especially as we had no trouble, although we do have tow professional bouncers to make sure”.

Mr. Hall said the agency had previously lost £100 on two dances they had staged at Tamworth’s Assembly Rooms.

“The place is jinxed”, he said. “Everywhere is too eerie – the new atmosphere is for a smaller room lit by coloured lights”.

He added that the name of Fazeley’s new teenagers’ club may be “The Beachcomber”.

Fashion-conscious school girls are under-eating
Starving themselves to fit “Twiggy” clothes, says survey
FASHION-CONSIOUS girls at Tamworth’s co-educational Queen Elizabeth Grammar School are starving themselves to fit into “Twiggy” clothes.

This claim is made by a team of six pupils who have carried out a survey to discover how many boys and girls in the school are having a properly balanced diet.

Michael MladenovicPoems will be read at young writer’s funeral
POEMS written by 19-year-old Michael Mladenovic, one of Tamworth’s leading young writers, will be read at his funeral at Hopwas this afternoon.

Michael died suddenly in his flat at 47a, Wigginton Road, early on Sunday. The East Staffordshire Coroner was informed and following a post-mortem examination has decided that death was due to natural cuses and an inquest is not necessary.

Michael, a former pupil of Tamworth Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, was one of a team of five young people, all members of the Little Theatre 69, who presented an anthology of contemporary poetry, songs and dramatic readings, in the Assembly Rooms only four days before his death.
